About us

The Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission is an independent statutory body established under the Greyhound Racing Act 2017. Our work is focused on high standards of welfare and integrity, effective regulation, intelligence-led decision-making and strong stakeholder engagement

As an Inspector, you'll play a hands-on role in monitoring compliance across the greyhound racing industry. No two days are the same. You will conduct property and kennel inspections, assist with investigations, gather evidence, engage with industry participants, and provide practical advice to encourage compliance with legislative and welfare requirements.

Working as part of a statewide team, you'll help identify and address non-compliance issues, contribute to enforcement outcomes where required, and build positive relationships with industry participants and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting inspections of greyhound properties and kennels.
  • Assisting with investigations, evidence collection, interviews, and reporting.
  • Providing education and compliance advice to industry participants.
  • Preparing recommendations, work directions, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate records and responding to complaints and enquiries.
  • Working closely with colleagues, enforcement agencies, and animal welfare organisations.
About You

We're looking for a professional, resilient, and ethical individual who enjoys working in the field, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and making a meaningful contribution to regulatory compliance and animal welfare.

You will bring:
  • Experience undertaking compliance, regulatory, investigative, inspection, enforcement, or similar activities in a regulatory environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to work impartially and professionally.
  • Strong written skills and attention to detail when preparing notes, reports, and recommendations.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • A willingness to learn and apply legislation, policies, and operational procedures consistently.
To be successful in this role, you must
  • Hold a current valid Driver Licence.
  • Be willing and able to travel around NSW.
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and overtime as required
  • Be willing and capable of working with animals.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment probity screening and conflict of interest checks.
