Job summary

Profectus is seeking an experienced Senior Exchange Specialist Infrastructure Engineer to support an Australian Government agency. You will administer a hybrid Exchange environment spanning on premises and Exchange Online, handling mail flow, security, compliance and migration activities.

The role requires senior expertise in Exchange 2019/SE and Microsoft 365 infrastructure, plus PowerShell scripting and archiving solutions.

Job description

Profectus is seeking an experienced Senior Exchange Specialist Infrastructure Engineer to support enterprise messaging services within an Australian Government agency. You will administer and support a Microsoft hybrid messaging environment spanning Exchange on premises and Exchange Online. The work covers mail flow and service performance, email security and compliance controls, migration and modernisation activities, and technical documentation and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Exchange on premises and Exchange Online messaging environments
• Configure, maintain and enhance Exchange services and associated messaging systems
• Monitor service performance, availability, capacity and mail flow, and resolve identified issues
• Implement and maintain email security, compliance and governance controls
• Manage mailboxes, distribution groups, address lists and other messaging service components
• Support email migration, platform modernisation and service enhancement activities
• Investigate and resolve technical issues and provide solution options to stakeholders and project teams
• Support incident, problem and change management activities for messaging services
• Produce solution designs, implementation plans, and configuration, testing and validation documentation
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles
• Transfer skills and knowledge to agency staff through training material and handover documentation
• Liaise with project teams, business stakeholders, service providers and other ICT teams

Required Experience

• Senior experience administering and supporting enterprise Exchange messaging environments
• Monitoring service component capacity, controlling demand on resources and contributing to capacity planning
• Planning and implementing infrastructure maintenance, updates and changes using infrastructure management tools
• Writing, testing and documenting scripts to automate provisioning, testing and deployment of infrastructure
• Investigating and resolving problems, determining fixes and analysing patterns and trends to prevent recurrence
• Designing large or complex systems, including impact analysis of design options and trade-offs
• Leading installation and decommissioning projects, including quality plans and method statements
• Producing technical documentation, reports and recommendations for specialists, users and managers
• Proven knowledge of Exchange 2019/SE and Microsoft 365 infrastructure
• Experience working in a Microsoft hybrid messaging environment
• PowerShell and automated scripting
• Arctera (Veritas) Enterprise Vault or similar on-premises archiving solutions

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Must have a current AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance
