Geodetica in Canberra is seeking a senior ICT professional to anchor and grow a new practice from the ground up, directing its strategy, winning initial work, and building the team around it. With strong footprint in Defence and Australian Government, you will shape the capability and align delivery with client needs while maintaining commercial acumen.

Role Description

This is a rare chance to build a capability rather than join one. Geodetica is looking for a senior ICT professional to anchor and grow a new practice from the ground up: to set its direction, win its first work, and shape the team that grows around it. If you have delivered at a senior level and are ready to build something of your own, backed by an established group with a strong footprint in Defence and the Australian Government, we would like to hear from you.

You will do more than the technical work. We're looking for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial acumen and leadership. You bring a strong professional network and a track record of building trusted relationships and engaging effectively at executive and senior leadership levels across Government and industry. Your ability to open the right doors and hold the confidence of senior decision-makers matters as much as your technical depth.

In practice, you will set the direction for our ICT practice: establishing the consulting and assurance methods others will work to, strengthening how we win and deliver work, bringing customer needs back into how the practice grows, and mentoring the practitioners you bring on over time.

Working closely with Geodetica's executive leadership, you'll have significant autonomy to shape the capability, influence business strategy and build a team that reflects the vision. You will use your relationships across Defence and the broader Australian Government to expand where Geodetica can contribute.

Qualifications & Experience

• Senior experience in ICT related fields, including time in a lead, principal or practice-building capacity.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams or building a capability, including mentoring and developing others.
• An established professional network across Defence, Government and industry at executive and senior leadership levels.
• A track record of winning work, including leading or supporting bids, proposals and client engagement.
• Deep experience delivering cyber/ICT assurance, consulting, governance, risk or compliance outcomes in Defence, Government or another high-assurance or regulated environment.
• The ability to translate complex IT and OT cyber security matters and technical risk into plain language for executive leadership.
• An Australian Government NV1 security clearance as a minimum.
• Ability to meet applicable security and customer requirements.
• Applying the Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework.
• Defence accreditation, Authority to Operate and Defence Industry Security Program requirements.
• Essential Eight, IRAP or IRAP-aligned assurance, and cyber security control assessment.
• IT and OT cyber security, systems engineering, and test and evaluation.
• Executive advice and briefing, classified systems, EMSEC awareness, and relevant Defence COMSEC knowledge.
• Relevant professional certifications or qualifications.

As a DISP member, Geodetica supports its people through the AGSVA clearance process. An active Australian Government NV1 clearance is the minimum requirement for this role. Some engagements require a higher level of clearance, and as a DISP member we can sponsor and facilitate an upgrade to your existing clearance where a project calls for it.

Certain engagements may be subject to Australian or international export control requirements, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Eligibility may therefore depend on citizenship, nationality, country of birth, dual citizenship, residency history or other export-control considerations.
