Job summary

Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) is seeking an experienced Security Architect to deliver security architectural guidance across complex ICT projects operating in secure environments. The role collaborates with analysts, engineers, and other security specialists to design compliant solutions and support authorisation activities.

The successful candidate will work on multiple projects, providing security strategy, risk assessments, and accreditation support to ensure solutions

Qualifications

AGO's GEOINT Capability Delivery Branch (GCD) delivers critical capabilities to AGO, Defence, and the NIC.

Job Description

AGO's GEOINT Capability Delivery Branch is seeking an experienced Security Architect to provide security architectural advice and strategies across complex ICT projects operating within secure and classified environments. The successful candidate will work closely with business analysts, system engineers, solution architects, and security specialists to design and recommend compliant security solutions.

You will play a key role in ensuring solutions are feasible, fit-for-purpose, interoperable, and capable of achieving security authorisation requirements. The role will involve supporting multiple projects of varying sizes and contributing to security compliance, risk management, and accreditation activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop architectural products and artefacts to support project deliverables and organisational outcomes.
  • Develop security documentation to support security authorisation activities.
  • Contribute security expertise to project deliverables and technical outcomes.
  • Attend and represent GCD and ICT Security at project meetings, governance forums, and workshops.
  • Engage stakeholders to gain support for security recommendations and maintain engagement with technical assurance and architecture authorities.
  • Conduct security risk assessments to support project and organisational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice, recommendations, and ICT security solutions to address identified risks and issues.
  • Support certification and accreditation activities and assist project teams with implementing security functions.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to align security and compliance activities with project schedules and deliverables.
Education/Certifications required
  • Relevant qualifications and experience aligned with Information Security and Information Assurance disciplines.
  • Demonstrated capability operating at SFIA Level 5 for:
    • Information Security (SCTY) 5
    • Information Assurance (INAS) 5
Knowledge/Skills required
  • Strong background in information security and compliance assessments.
  • Experience conducting security risk assessments for new technologies and capabilities.
  • Ability to provide security strategy and guidance to manage identified risks.
  • Strong understanding of security compliance frameworks and security authorisation requirements.
  • Experience developing security documentation and accreditation artefacts.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience interpreting and applying information assurance architectures, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Experience investigating security risks and recommending appropriate security controls.
  • Extensive technical solution architecture experience is highly desirable.
