The HR Ally is seeking an experienced Information Architect to support a Federal Government Change Program in Canberra. The role focuses on designing, structuring and governing business information assets to align with strategic objectives and enterprise information management goals.
You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to develop information models, taxonomies and metadata structures, support governance initiatives and contribute to Agile delivery using Azure DevOps.

Location ACT (Canberra) — Hybrid, 2 days onsite per week; interstate candidates onsite for quarterly PI Planning

An Information Architect is required to support a Change Program for a Federal Government agency. The role is responsible for designing, structuring and governing business information assets to align with business needs and strategic objectives — ensuring information assets are consistently structured, classified, governed and integrated across business systems and services.
The Information Architect will design, document and govern information architectures that support business capabilities, service delivery and enterprise information management objectives. The role works closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand information requirements, develop information models and structures, define metadata and taxonomy frameworks, support information governance initiatives, and ensure information assets are aligned with enterprise and data architecture strategies. The contractor will contribute to Agile delivery practices, maintain work items in Azure DevOps, support governance activities, and provide knowledge transfer to build internal capability.
Information architecture expertise
Proven experience designing, implementing and governing enterprise information architectures, information models, taxonomies, metadata frameworks and content structures.
Information management and governance
Demonstrated experience developing information management standards, governance frameworks, classification schemes and practices that improve information quality, accessibility, compliance and usability.
Stakeholder engagement and facilitation
Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, architects and governance forums.
Information modelling and design
Experience designing logical and conceptual information models, classifications, metadata standards, taxonomies and structures that support discoverability, reuse and interoperability.
Enterprise integration and architecture alignment
Experience ensuring information architecture aligns with enterprise, data, solution and business architecture practices while supporting integration across systems and services.
Communication and documentation
Strong ability to produce high-quality information architecture artefacts, governance documentation, briefing papers, standards, roadmaps and executive presentations.
Regulatory, security and privacy knowledge
Understanding of information management obligations relating to privacy, records management, security classifications, information governance and regulatory compliance.
Agile delivery and governance experience
Experience working in Agile delivery environments, using tools such as Azure DevOps, and ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and architecture standards.
