Zusammenfassung

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is seeking a Scientific Analyst to analyse infectious disease epidemiology related to blood safety and to contribute to evidence-based policy recommendations. You will work in the Donor and Product Safety Policy Unit and across Lifeblood to support risk assessment and modelling efforts.

The role develops your expertise through research activities and collaboration, ideal for early to mid-career scientists with public health or epidemiology backgrounds seeking

Qualifikationen

• Tertiary qualification in biomedical science.
• Postgraduate qualification (Honours or higher) or equivalent research experience.
• Demonstrated high standard of written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform critical appraisal and make evidence-based recommendations.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Strong scientific analytical skills.
• Demonstrated track-record of publication in peer reviewed journals.
• Experience in design/development/application of health-based risk or cost-effectiveness modelling.
• Operational knowledge of the blood sector.
• Sound knowledge of transfusion-transmissible infectious diseases.
• Experience in infectious diseases surveillance.
• Experience in data analysis and statistical methods including SPSS, STATA or R.

Aufgaben

• Analyse and interpret epidemiology of infectious diseases to inform donor and product safety policies.
• Contribute to risk assessment and quantitative modelling activities.
• Provide research expertise to inform decision-making for policies and strategies.
• Collaborate with the Donor and Product Safety Policy Unit and other divisions.
