Job summary

St Mary's Catholic College in Cairns, QLD, seeks an Industrial Technology & Design Assistant to support the technology department under supervision of the teacher. The role involves preparing workshop materials, setting up equipment, and assisting students with resources in a dynamic, faith-based learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of the technology teacher/s, perform tasks associated with classroom learning including: Preparing and setting up workshop materials and resources
• Packing away/dismantling equipment and materials and storing appropriately
• Operating industrial technology and design plant and equipment
• Providing practical assistance to students in using classroom resources
• Preparing displays and promotional materials for exhibits and events as required
• Monitor the quantities of equipment, materials and supplies and advise the technology teachers when purchases are required
• Monitor all electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure they adhere to policies, protocols and standards
• Responsibility for ensuring the maintenance of equipment, tools, and machinery at regular intervals
• Identify and report any unsafe practices within the department to the teacher/s
• Assisting in the support of student engagement
