Job summary

Trinity Lutheran College on the Gold Coast is seeking a Learning Assistant – Technology to support both Middle and Senior Years in the Design and Technology spaces. You will help ensure workshops are safe, assist students with practical activities, and prepare materials and equipment for lessons.

The role involves working closely with teachers to manage resources, maintain tools, and support students’ skill development in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

Trinity Lutheran College is seeking a Learning Assistant – Technology to join our Middle and Senior Years Campus and support the day-to-day operation of our Trade Training Centre and Design Technology Department.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and supporting young people to develop skills and confidence through hands‑on learning. Working closely with the Head of Learning and classroom Teachers, you will help ensure our workshops are safe, support students during practical learning and prepare materials and equipment for lessons.

About the role

The Learning Assistant – Technology plays an important role in supporting both students and teachers within our Design and Technology learning spaces. The role will include:

• Supporting students individually and in small groups during practical learning activities.
• Assisting teachers with the preparation and management of classroom and workshop resources.
• Assistant in maintaining tools, machinery, equipment and workshop spaces.
• Coordinating routine and preventative maintenance and specialist servicing
• Purchasing and managing materials and supplies.
• Promoting safe work practices and the correct use of tools and equipment.

About you

You will be practical, organised and approachable, with a genuine interest in supporting young people to learn and develop their skills. You will ideally bring:

• Experience within an education, trade workshop or maintenance environment, background in Design Technology teaching or Cert III in Education Support.
• Experience supporting students individually or in small groups to build skills, confidence and achieve learning outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with students and colleagues.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep resources, equipment and practical learning spaces organised.
• Initiative, flexibility and a collaborative approach, with a willingness to pitch in and support the needs of a busy Technology department.
