Job summary

Slattery Grays Auctions is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our Industrial sales team in Canberra, ACT. You will identify leads and build relationships for disposal of surplus equipment across transport, earthmoving, construction, manufacturing, and engineering sectors.

You will manage a warm book and secure business with an uncapped incentive plan, vehicle allowance, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Proven sales ability with a track record of overachievement, successfully growing market share and closing large deals.
• Market knowledge across industrial categories such as transport, earthmoving, construction, and manufacturing.
• Auction experience - directly employed or through trading or customer engagement - is essential.
• Ability to translate client needs into complete solutions and build relationships at all levels.
• Entrepreneurial, fast-paced mindset with adaptability in a growth environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Cover a large region surrounding Canberra and the greater ACT involving regular face-to-face site meetings.
• Work through a mix of high-volume cold calls and warm leads including repeat and dormant accounts to ensure all possible sales opportunities are identified.
• Assess potential partners, perform competitive research, evaluate proposed deals and partnerships, and develop business cases for new targets.
• Be the lead point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while providing exceptional service.
• Build strong professional relationships within your local and national team.
• Provide revenue forecasts and review sales results to ensure KPIs and KPAs are met.
• Utilise interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills to secure and close new business.
• Plan and execute local sales strategies, proposals, and presentations.
• Weekly travel is required to execute your goals in this role.
