Job summary

AKG is seeking a dedicated ISEP Youth Coach to support Indigenous Skills and Employment Program participants in Queensland. You will manage a caseload, assess goals, and provide pre- and post-employment guidance to help young people overcome barriers to education and work.

The role requires a formal qualification in Mental Health, Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent, plus strong communication and time-management skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of success in delivering employment and/or community/non-vocational services to clients.
• Formal qualification in Mental Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Career Development or equivalent.
• Mental Health First Aid (Desirable).
• Experience in Youth Work, Community Services or Employment Services (Desirable).
• Well-developed organisational and time-management skills.
• Highly developed communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program.
• Manage a caseload of participants who have vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment/study/health services.
• Ensure participants can participate and develop their personal journeys.
• Conduct initial assessments of participants to identify short- and long-term goals.
• Attend local secondary schools to provide information to staff and students about ISEP.
• Engage with young people in the local community.
• Support participants to access education and training opportunities.
• Provide pre-employment and post-employment support and training to participants.
• Participate in local community, employment and networking events and forums.
