Job summary

Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education seeks an experienced Senior Lecturer / Indigenous HDR Academic Support Officer to support Higher Degree by Research candidates within the Graduate School. The role focuses on academic and pastoral support, progression tracking and teaching into the Graduate Certificate program as it commences in 2027.

The appointee will contribute to Indigenous tertiary education, student success, and the Institute’s commitment to Indigenous

Qualifications

• A completed PhD or DBA, or substantial progress toward a PhD or DBA (candidature underway).
• Ability to support HDR candidates and maintain tracking systems.
• Capacity to teach coursework at the graduate level, including the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research.
• Demonstrated ability to work in culturally diverse teams within Indigenous Australian communities.
• Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and compliance with Institute WHS policies.
• Original certified copies of qualifications must be supplied.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and pastoral support to HDR candidates to help them progress through milestones.
• Maintain the HDR Master Tracker (candidate tracking system) with accurate data.
• Offer culturally responsive services to strengthen retention and timely completion.
• Teach into and support the online Graduate Certificate program when delivery commences in 2027.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Graduate School processes and research culture.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the line manager.
