Job summary

CKG Search, instructed by an ASX-listed construction group, seeks a construction lawyer to advise on contract and risk across the full project lifecycle. You will be embedded with commercial and project teams, drafting and negotiating head contracts, subcontracts and supplier conditions.

The role requires a Law degree and Australian Practising Certificate with 4+ years' PQE in construction law. The position is full-time and hybrid, with opportunities to manage claims, Security of Payment

Qualifications

• Law degree and an Australian Practising Certificate (or eligibility)
• 4+ years’ PQE with experience in construction law, ideally contractor-side
• Thorough, current knowledge of Security of Payment legislation and contract administration
• Confident advising operational and senior stakeholders in a fast-moving environment
• Pragmatic and relationship-led, and able to work autonomously and collaboratively
• This role suits a commercially minded construction lawyer ready to sit at the centre of project decisions rather than advising from the outside.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal risk assessments for tender and contract approval memos
• Draft and negotiate head contract amendments, subcontracts and supplier special conditions
• Advise project teams on claims, notices, time bars and Security of Payment matters
• Manage supply chain insolvency issues and insurance claims
• Manage external law firm relationships and NDAs
• Develop contract administration training and improve legal systems and processes
