Job summary

TradeTools on the Gold Coast is seeking a bilingual (English/Mandarin) with practical tool experience to join the Imports team. You will learn the full import process from sourcing to shipment, working closely with the Imports Director and suppliers in China and Taiwan at our Stapylton HQ.

The role involves overseas liaison, product sourcing, contract negotiations, and coordinating shipments while maintaining timelines and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Mandarin and English, written and spoken to high professional standards.
• Trade experience, or mechanical minded.
• Experience with tooling or sourcing is preferred.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Directly liaising with overseas suppliers, mainly in China & Taiwan.
• Assisting in product sourcing, development & full international purchasing.
• Ensuring compliance with import laws, regulations, and product standards.
• Commercial contracts negotiation and order management.
• Supply chain management & coordinating overseas shipments.
• Managing quality and timelines while pursuing cost savings & efficiencies.
• Understanding of basic Excel.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity for a smart & ambitious mechanically minded bilingual (English & Chinese Mandarin) with practical experience using or sourcing tools, or trade background to work alongside the Imports Director at one of Queensland’s most respected private companies, learning the full import process from the ground up at a company currently importing over 1000 containers annually.

You will be reporting directly to the board, working closely alongside our Imports Director. The role is based at our 16,000m2 Stapylton headquarters & distribution centre on the northern Gold Coast. There will be some overseas travel involved, mainly to mainly to mainland China & Taiwan, & rostered fortnightly Saturday work is also needed in one of our retail stores.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Directlyliaising withoverseassupplierson a daily basis, mainly in China & Taiwan.
• Assisting in product sourcing, development & full process of international purchasing.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable import laws, regulations, and product standards.
