Job summary

Sureway Employment and Training is seeking an Employment Consultant to support participants in taking ownership of their journey to work. You will build relationships with employers, match candidates to roles, and guide participants before and after placement to ensure sustainable employment.

Ideal candidates are curious, proactive, and prepared to learn quickly, with transferable skills from sales, recruitment, or community services. This is a community-facing role within Queensland, Australia.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with ability to manage time and follow through
• Strong communication skills to build rapport with participants and employers
• Commercial awareness to understand employer needs and advocate candidates
• Curiosity and preparedness to learn role, sector, and people
• Transferable skills from sales, recruitment, customer service, or community services
• Resilience and problem-solving to stay productive under pressure
• Organised approach to manage priorities and keep records

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with participants to set clear employment goals and action plans
• Actively build relationships with local employers to create job opportunities
• Promote participants’ strengths and match them to suitable roles
• Support participants before and after placement to ensure sustainable employment
• Identify barriers and coordinate support services or training where needed
• Manage your own caseload, priorities, and follow-ups to keep things moving
• Maintain accurate records and meet program compliance requirements
• Represent Sureway in the local community to build awareness and connections
