Professional Search Group (PSG) is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to support a not-for-profit disability services organisation in Sydney. This 6-month maternity leave cover focuses on accurate reporting, compliance and efficient finance operations.

You will assist with month-end reporting, reconciliations and cash flow, manage corporate cards and payroll files, and help with BAS/FBT and audit tasks. The role suits detail‑oriented accountants aiming to contribute to community outcomes.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualifications or experience in a similar financial accounting role.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• An understanding of Australian accounting, taxation and financial reporting requirements.
• The ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Supporting month-end reporting, reconciliations and cash flow reporting.
• Managing corporate credit cards, payroll files and fundraising direct debit batches.
• Supporting BAS, FBT, grant acquittals and statutory reporting.
• Preparing audit schedules and supporting internal and external audits.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and compliance registers.
• Contributing to improved finance processes, systems and internal controls.
• Providing ad hoc financial and compliance support as required.
