Job summary

Iona College Geelong Charlemont is seeking an experienced ICT Network & Systems Officer to support and secure the College's network, cloud platforms and systems. The role focuses on cyber security, Microsoft cloud services and the safe adoption of emerging technologies.

Working with the ICT Manager, you will manage servers, identity access, and data protection across on-site and cloud environments, while enabling reliable technology for teaching and administration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the College's physical and virtual servers and Aruba wired and wireless network infrastructure.
• Administer Microsoft Entra identity and access management, including conditional access, multi-factor authentication and identity lifecycle governance.
• Maintain FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, web filtering and security policies, and monitor and respond to network security alerts using security tools.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Purview information protection, data loss prevention, records retention and compliance reporting, and Microsoft Teams Phones.
• Maintain data protection, backup, disaster recovery and high-availability systems across onsite and cloud environments.
• Support Microsoft SQL databases, College platforms, IoT and EoT devices, and the safe and compliant use of AI technologies.
• Maintain systems documentation, monitor infrastructure usage, liaise with vendors and provide ServiceDesk, classroom and audio-visual support when required.

About Us

Iona College Geelong is a growing Catholic co-educational secondary college committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive and future-focused learning community. As our college continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced ICT Network & Systems Officer to help deliver secure, reliable and effective technology services across the College.

The Role

The ICT Network & Systems Officer is responsible for supporting and maintaining the College's network infrastructure, cloud platforms and systems.

Working closely with the ICT Manager, the role has a strong focus on cyber security, Microsoft cloud services and the safe and compliant adoption of emerging technologies. It will also contribute technical expertise to the continued development of the College's digital environment.

This role is Full Time, working Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the College's physical and virtual servers and Aruba wired and wireless network infrastructure.

Administer Microsoft Entra identity and access management, including conditional access, multi-factor authentication and identity lifecycle governance.

Maintain and regularly test data protection, backup, disaster recovery and high-availability systems across onsite and cloud environments.

Maintain systems documentation, monitor infrastructure usage, liaise with vendors and provide ServiceDesk, classroom and audio-visual support when required.

About You

You are an experienced ICT professional who enjoys solving complex problems, strengthening systems and contributing to a collaborative team. You will also bring:

Demonstrated experience managing enterprise network infrastructure, firewalls and modern security tools, ideally including Aruba, FortiGate and Darktrace

Strong expertise in Active Directory, Microsoft Entra and Intune environments

Sound knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Entra, Purview and Teams

The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and respond to issues accurately and promptly

Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail and a positive, service-focused approach

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, external providers and the wider College community

A collaborative mindset, openness to new ideas and a commitment to ongoing professional learning

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience operating enterprise network infrastructure

Relevant qualification in ICT or a related field

Knowledge of AI compliance and governance frameworks within a school environment will be well regarded.

Demonstrate a commitment to the College's child safety requirements.
