Job summary

Norm Engineering, a Brisbane-based manufacturer of earthmoving attachments, is seeking Trades Assistants for hydraulic fitting. The roles are permanent full-time with immediate start, located at Darra.

You will assist with fabrication, hydraulics maintenance, assembly and packaging, using workshop machinery and hand tools while maintaining safe work practices. A forklift licence is mandatory, and candidates should be reliable with a strong work ethic, capable of lifting 20 kg, and able to work

• Forklift licence required.
• Able to work on foot for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting 20 kg unassisted.
• Good safety, health and quality awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with product preparation and assembly.
• Work with hydraulics: maintenance, servicing, assembly and testing.
• Set up and operate bandsaw and other workshop machines.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and equipment.
• Follow directions from Foreman and QA.
• Assist with packaging and freight preparation.

An opportunity has become available for trades assistants to join our growing team.

We have a few roles currently available in HYDRAULIC fitting.

These are permanent full-time positions with an immediate start available.

General Responsibilities across the roles:

Use of forklift,

Maintain work areas and equipment,

Assisting with the stages of product preparation& assembly,

Working with hydraulics – maintenance, servicing, assembly andtesting,

Operate, maintain and work safely with hand tools, small plant and equipment as instructed by supervisor,

Assisting with paint preparation & scraping,

Setting up, adjusting and operating the bandsaw, bevelling machine, drill press, guillotine, linisher or cropper,

Spare parts and product packaging and preparation for freight,

Follow directions given by Foreman, Area Supervisor and QA.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Able to work on foot for extended periods of time,

Forklift licence mandatory,

Reliable and strong work ethic,

Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment,

Capable of lifting 20 kg unassisted,

Acceptable knowledge of safety, health and quality principles,

Manual Handling techniques,

Sound communication aptitude in delivering beneficial teamwork.

Experience can be gained on the job. Apprenticeships can be undertaken by dedicated and willing staff.
