Job summary

Canterbury Bankstown Council in Sydney seeks a Transport Planner for a 12-month contract, delivering strategic transport planning and community engagement. Hybrid role with 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home, based at Bankstown Civic Tower, contributing to major regional transport initiatives.

You will lead planning efforts, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, shaping the Council's transport strategy during a period of significant change for the city.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in urban planning, transport planning, land use planning or a related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of strategic transport planning practice, ideally in a large complex organisation.
• Demonstrated experience in consultation, research, data analysis and strategy development.
• Track record of producing high-quality strategic and operational plans and reports.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Researching and developing the Council's Transport Strategic Plan.
• Researching and developing a Parking Management Plan.
• Preparing advocacy positions and submissions in response to Transport for NSW reforms.
• Representing Council at forums on transport matters tied to state-significant projects.
• Delivering on the Active Transport Action Plan and Complete Streets initiatives.
• Preparing discussion papers, feasibility studies and high-quality reports for Council and external stakeholders.
• Engaging and consulting with the local community on transport needs and priorities.
