Job summary

Key Assets Australia is seeking a Family Services Practitioner to promote the wellbeing of vulnerable children and families. You will work with families to provide early intervention and prevention support to reduce risks and strengthen family capabilities.

Reporting to the Team Manager, you will engage with children, youth and priority groups, conduct home visits, assessments and targeted support, and contribute to safety checks and risk management.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (or equivalent).
• Proven experience with children, families and young people.
• Strong knowledge of Child and Family Service, Child Protection and Court Orders.
• Experience conducting comprehensive assessments and developing/support plans.
• Experience assessing parenting capacity.
• Ability to prepare clear reports, letters and memos.
• Knowledge of relevant Child Protection legislation and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage children, youth, and families through home visits, phone contact, and meetings.
• Provide targeted support to priority groups, including infants, young children, adolescents, people with disabilities, and those experiencing family violence.
• Evaluate the needs, risks, and safety of families, and develop targeted, time-limited goals and interventions.
• Ensure all safety checks are completed promptly and in accordance with relevant procedures and guidelines.
