Job summary

Open Universities Australia (OUA) is seeking a DevOps Engineer to simplify engineering and enable product teams. You’ll work hands-on with TypeScript, AWS and developer enablement to automate, test and deploy software efficiently.

You’ll collaborate with product engineers to understand needs, remove bottlenecks and build self‑service tooling. There’s an emphasis on AI-assisted workflows to improve the software delivery process.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining services.
• Strong AWS knowledge and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain platform services, APIs, tooling and automation.
• Collaborate with product engineers to remove bottlenecks.
• Develop and maintain AWS infra through code with security in mind.
• Improve CI, testing, deployment and observability workflows.
• Troubleshoot across app, infra and network layers; support incidents.
• Embed security into engineering with access controls and secrets mgmt.
• Turn repetitive ops work into reusable tools and self-service docs.
• Explore new AWS features and AI tools to improve delivery.
• Optimize cloud costs without compromising reliability or security.
