Job summary

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts is seeking an APS6 Data Policy Advisor in the Data Strategy and Partnerships Branch. This role focuses on implementing the Data Strategy 2025-29, supporting governance, and driving policy development across the department.

Flexible work arrangements including hybrid (office/home) options are available across multiple Australian locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in data management and governance.
• Ability to translate data policy into actionable guidance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the department’s data agenda.
• Contribute to yearly Data Strategy Action Plans.
• Design initiatives to support data governance framework and policies.
• Educate teams on data governance and data management to support rollout of the framework.
• Develop guidance and reference materials to boost data capability.
• Prepare briefing material for high level data fora.
