Job summary

Australian Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development is seeking an APS6 Data Policy Advisor in the Data Strategy and Partnerships Section. You will help implement the department’s Data Strategy 2025-29 and annual Action Plans, and support data governance guidance and data management across the department.

The role offers flexible work arrangements with hybrid (office and home) options across multiple Australian locations, and opportunities to contribute to whole-of-government data

Qualifications

• Demonstrated data management experience with governance and policy
• Experience in data governance, data analysis or policy development
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Clear written and verbal communication of technical concepts

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the department’s data agenda
• Contribute to development of yearly Data Strategy Action Plans
• Design and implement initiatives to support data governance framework and policies
• Educate and support data governance and data management across the department
• Develop guidance and reference materials to improve data capability
• Prepare briefing material for high-level government data forums
