Job summary

Core Talent is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join Melbourne’s busy commercial service team. This role blends hands-on field work with office responsibilities and aims to develop your scheduling, estimating and service-management skills while you still work on-site.

You’ll collaborate with the Service Manager and GM to support technicians, coordinate service delivery and uphold high standards for our commercial clients across Melbourne Metro, with a clear path into leadership

Qualifications

• HVAC/R trade qualification with at least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience.
• Strong commercial HVAC service and maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with VRV/VRF systems, central plant and commercial refrigeration.
• Ability to diagnose complex faults and provide technical support to other technicians.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Interest in developing scheduling, estimating and people management.
• Dual trade qualification in refrigeration and electrical is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical support and guidance to HVAC technicians across commercial service contracts.
• Assisting with the coordination and scheduling of technicians across Melbourne Metro.
• Supporting estimating, quoting and scoping of service and maintenance works.
• Assisting with job allocation, service delivery and workload management.
• Attending sites when required to assist with complex breakdowns, diagnostics and technical issues.
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients and ensuring service standards are consistently met.
• Working closely with the Service Manager and GM to improve operational efficiency and team performance.
• Gradually developing capabilities across service management and commercial operations.

Job description

We’re seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join a busy commercial service team, offering the perfect mix of hands‑on technical work and office-based responsibilities. This is a great opportunity for a technician who still enjoys being on the tools but is ready to develop their skills in scheduling, estimating and service management.

Working closely with the Service Manager and General Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting technicians, coordinating service delivery and ensuring commercial clients across Melbourne Metro receive a high standard of service.

The Role

This is a varied, hands‑on position where no two days will look the same. You’ll split your time between supporting the team in the field and helping manage the day‑to‑day running of the commercial service division.

About You

• A recognised HVAC/R trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years' post‑apprenticeship experience.
• Strong commercial HVAC service and maintenance experience.
• Hands‑on experience with VRV/VRF systems, central plant and commercial refrigeration.
• The ability to diagnose complex faults and provide technical support to other technicians.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• An interest in developing your skills in scheduling, estimating and people management.
• The confidence to work autonomously while collaborating with senior management and field teams.
• A dual trade qualification in refrigeration and electrical, or similar, will be highly regarded.
