Job summary

Peabody Energy seeks a High Voltage Electrician for the Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) at Coppabella Mine in Queensland. You will perform maintenance on mining equipment across site, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient fleet operation.

Working on mobile equipment and fixed plant, you will follow a 7/7 roster with residential, DIDO or FIFO options. Camp accommodation is provided and Living Away From Home allowances may apply.

Qualifications

• QLD Electrical Licence holder with open-cut mining maintenance experience.
• Experience with mobile equipment including Draglines, P&H Electric rope shovels, Liebherr T282, Komatsu 930E/830E and Hitachi EH4000 electric drive trucks.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety procedures and continuous improvement.
• HV switching competencies; ability to read electrical schematics.

Job description

We are currently seeking a High Voltage Electrician at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) – Coppabella Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

About the role:

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the role is responsible for executing maintenance on mining equipment across site, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and adhering to safe and efficient work practices, helping to keep our fleet running smoothly.

Duties will include:

• Adhere to site safety standards and statutory regulations at all times.
• Compliance with site Safety and Health Management system requirements (including risk management, SOP’s, permits, work instructions etc.).
• Maintenance on mobile mining equipment and fixed plant infrastructure
• Prioritise and undertake specified and/or general work to the required standard and within timeframes
• Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment.
• Minimise production downtime.
• Participate in shift change, site meetings, communications or reporting requirements to the required standard.
• Actively engage in the in the Peabody Continuous Improvement Program.

The lifestyle:

This position is offered on a 7/7 roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

About you:

The successful candidate will hold a QLD Electrical Licence and have experience in an open cut mining maintenance environment. You will also have:

• Previous experience working on mobile equipment including but not limited to, Draglines, P&H Electric rope shovels, Liebherr T282, Komatsu 930E/830E and Hitachi EH4000 electric drive trucks.
• Experience with defect inspections, SAP work management systems.
• A Continuous Improvement commitment and positive attitude towards change.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety procedures and disciplines.
• High Voltage switching competencies.
• PLC and SCADA Control system experience.
• Current LVR/CPR competency (within the last 12 Months).
• Ability to read and interpret Electrical Schematics.
• EWP and Working at Heights desirable.
• 3yrs HME experience.
• Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude.
