Job summary

Peabody Energy, Inc. seeks an experienced Prep Plant Manager to lead the CHPP at Centurion Mine, Moranbah, QLD. You will drive project delivery, safety excellence and plant reliability for a 25+ year mine life.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will shape the refurbishment and upgrade of the CHPP, directing a team of supervisors and contractors to achieve high performance in a dynamic underground operation.

Qualifications

  • Extensive operational and leadership experience within a Coal Handling and Preparation Plant environment.
  • Previous experience leading multidisciplinary operational and maintenance teams.
  • Exposure to CHPP upgrades, plant modifications or commissioning projects.
  • Strong planning and reporting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience applying continuous improvement methodologies to enhance plant performance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership, risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to build and sustain high-performing teams in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the CHPP Superintendent, Coordinators and contractor workforce.
  • Develop and maintain robust planning and scheduling processes that deliver safe, efficient and reliable plant performance.
  • Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Maintenance Management Plan (MMP).
  • Drive operational excellence through performance monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Safety and Health Management Plan (SHMP) and all relevant statutory obligations.
  • Partner with site stakeholders to develop inspection, maintenance and compliance requirements, including SOPs and operational standards.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through effective risk management, audits, inspections and proactive leadership in the field.

About the Role

Peabody has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Prep Plant Manager to join our Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in establishing, optimising and leading the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) and associated support functions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future performance of a newly revitalised underground mining operation by driving plant reliability, production efficiency, safety performance and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the site leadership team, you will lead the refurbishment and upgrade of the CHPP to support underground coal production while creating a high-performing culture built on accountability, operational excellence and safety.

You are an experienced CHPP leader with a strong operational background and a proven ability to lead teams in complex mining environments. You bring a strategic mindset, a strong safety focus and the capability to drive plant performance while managing change and improvement projects.

To be successful, you will bring:
