Job summary

Total Fire Solutions, Mt Thorley NSW, is seeking an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Officer to lead and improve HSEQ systems across our business. Based in Mt Thorley, you will partner with operational teams to maintain safe workplaces, drive environmental responsibility and ensure compliance with quality standards.

You will manage risk management, incident investigation, workers compensation and return-to-work programs, while delivering training and maintaining records

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or related discipline.
• Experience in a HSEQ/WH&S role in mining or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as frontline HSEQ support for the Mt Thorley unit.
• Conduct workplace inspections and risk assessments.
• Assist in development and continuous improvement of HSEQ policies and management systems.
• Support compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and participate in audits.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and environmental events; perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions.
• Coordinate workers compensation claims, injury management and return-to-work programs.
• Deliver HSEQ training, inductions, coaching and guidance to employees and contractors.
• Maintain accurate HSEQ records and documentation to support compliance.
• Support environmental initiatives and monitor environmental performance.
• Analyze HSEQ performance data and contribute to continuous improvement.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Officer to support the ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems across our business. Based at Mt Thorley and supporting multiple divisions, you will work closely with operational teams and leadership to maintain safe workplaces, promote environmental responsibility and support quality compliance.

This role offers a diverse mix of responsibilities including risk management, incident investigation, workers compensation and injury management, training and education, auditing, compliance and continuous improvement activities.

You will play an important role in fostering a proactive safety culture and helping ensure TFS continues to meet its legal, regulatory and operational obligations. What will you do?

Act as the frontline HSEQ support for the Mt Thorley business unit while providing support to other divisions as required.

Conduct workplace inspections, safety interactions, hazard identification activities and risk assessments to proactively manage workplace risks.

Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HSEQ policies, procedures and management systems.

Support compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards and participate in internal and external audits.

Investigate incidents, near misses and environmental events, conducting root cause analysis and supporting corrective actions.

Coordinate workers compensation claims, injury management and return to work programs in accordance with legislative requirements.

Deliver HSEQ training, inductions, coaching and guidance to employees, contractors and stakeholders.

Maintain accurate HSEQ records, reports and documentation to support compliance and business objectives.

Support environmental initiatives, monitor environmental performance and assist in managing environmental risks.

Analyse HSEQ performance data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

What skills and experience do you need?

Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience in a HSEQ, WHS or safety focused role, ideally within mining, industrial, construction, manufacturing environments.

Sound knowledge of HSEQ legislation, compliance requirements and industry best practice.

Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and workplace inspections.

Experience coordinating workers compensation claims, injury management and return to work programs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
