Job summary

Aequalis Consulting Pty is seeking a proactive HSE Advisor to support health, safety, and environmental compliance on major Queensland projects. You will operate on a 14:7 FIFO roster from Brisbane, joining a permanence-driven team committed to safety as a core value.

In this site-based role, you will guide field teams, conduct audits, investigations, and trainings, and partner with operations and leadership to embed safe practices.

Qualifications

• Site-based HSE experience in civil, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in WHS legislation, systems and audits.
• FIFO or remote site experience is advantageous.
• Ability to influence safe behaviours and build rapport.
• Strong reporting and compliance documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily HSE guidance to field teams.
• Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions and HSE training.
• Maintain accurate HSE reporting and records.

Working on a 14:7 FIFO roster from Brisbane, this is a permanent position with a leading contractor delivering complex and high-impact regional projects.

About the Role:

As the site-based HSE Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance across project delivery. You’ll work closely with operations teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership to ensure safety is owned and lived on site. Responsibilities include:

• Providing daily, on-the-ground HSE guidance to field teams
• Conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments in line with internal procedures and legislative requirements
• Supporting incident investigations and contributing to continuous improvement actions
• Facilitating toolbox talks, inductions, and HSE training
• Building a safety-first culture through positive engagement and communication
• Maintaining accurate reporting, documentation, and compliance records

What We're Looking For:

• Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
• 3+ years’ experience in a site-based HSE role – ideally in civil, energy, or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, systems, and audit processes
• Ability to build rapport with site personnel and influence safe behaviours
• Confidence working independently and making sound HSE recommendations
• Previous FIFO or remote site experience will be well regarded
