Job summary

Lactalis Australia is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment leader to oversee three sites: Nambour, Darwin and Richlands. Reporting to Site Managers with a dotted line to the Director HSW, you will drive proactive safety culture, risk management and regulatory compliance.

You will partner with site leadership to embed a safety-first approach, coach teams and deliver practical manufacturing outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior HS&E role within manufacturing or FMCG environments.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and incident investigation.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and drive a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead site HS&E plans across three sites (Nambour, Darwin, Richlands).
• Embed safety-first culture with site leadership teams; drive continuous improvement.
• Provide expert HS&E guidance on legislation and compliance.
• Lead incident investigations, risk assessments and root cause analysis.
• Drive corrective actions and sustainable improvements across sites.
• Monitor and report HS&E metrics and trends.
• Coordinate audits and regulatory compliance support.
• Support environmental management initiatives and site sustainability.
• Develop and deliver HS&E training for leaders, employees and contractors.
• Manage workers' compensation and injury management with operations.
• Build relationships with regulators and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Site Managers, with a functional reporting line to the Director HSW, this role is responsible for leading Health, Safety and Environment performance across three sites located in Nambour, Darwin and Richlands.

As a trusted advisor and business partner, you will work closely with site leadership teams to drive a proactive safety culture, strengthen risk management practices and ensure compliance across all aspects of health, safety and environmental management.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HS&E professional who enjoys influencing leaders, coaching teams and delivering practical outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the execution of site-based Health, Safety and Environment plans aligned to national strategy.
• Partnering with Site Leadership Teams to embed a strong safety-first culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Providing expert advice and guidance on HS&E legislation, compliance requirements and best practice.
• Leading incident investigations, risk assessments and root cause analysis activities.
• Driving corrective actions and ensuring sustainable improvements are implemented across sites.
• Monitoring, analysing and reporting HS&E performance metrics and trends
• Coordinating internal and external audits and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Supporting environmental management initiatives and site sustainability objectives.
• Developing and delivering engaging HS&E training programs for leaders, employees and contractors.
• Managing workers compensation and injury management processes in partnership with operational leaders.
• Building strong relationships with regulators, external stakeholders and site management teams.

About You

You are a engaging and influential HS&E professional who can partner effectively with operational leaders to create safer, more sustainable workplaces. You combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, solutions-focused approach and thrive in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline, with proven experience in a senior HS&E role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, risk management, incident investigation and environmental compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated success influencing, coaching and challenging leaders to drive accountability and a positive safety culture.
• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production, logistics or other operational environments, ideally across multiple sites.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance compliance requirements with operational outcomes.
