Qualifications

• 3+ years of dual experience in Australian payroll processing and HR administration.
• Experience in construction, mining, engineering, or heavy industry is highly regarded.
• Proficiency in modern payroll ecosystems and MS Excel for data reconciliation.
• Strong confidentiality, accuracy and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll processing on a weekly and monthly cadence for corporate and project staff.
• Interpret and apply Modern Awards and Fair Work standards for compliance.
• Manage statutory reporting including Superannuation, STP lodgements and payroll tax reconciliations.
• Provide HR generalist support: onboarding, policy interpretation, leave entitlements, documentation.
• Maintain data integrity across HRIS and payroll systems, including contracts and filings.

We are seeking an experienced HR/Payroll Officer to join our team in Sydney.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Officer to manage our end-to-end payroll operations while providing critical generalist HR support. Positioned within a collaborative corporate team, you will serve as the central point of contact for the entire employee lifecycle. This includes onboarding, contract administration, Modern Award interpretation, and compliant, timely pay runs for both salaried corporate staff and site-based project personnel.

• End-to-End Payroll: Execute precise weekly and monthly end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse corporate and project-based workforce.
• Compliance & Interpretation: Interpret Modern Awards (such as the Building and Construction Award and Clerical Award) and ensure full compliance with Fair Work standards.
• Statutory Reporting: Manage all local statutory requirements including Superannuation Guarantee compliance, Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgements, and state-based payroll tax reconciliations.
• HR Generalist Support: Act as the first point of contact for staff regarding payroll queries, policy interpretation, leave entitlements, and onboarding documentation.
• System & Data Management: Maintain absolute data integrity across the HRIS and payroll platforms, handling variations, contract generation, and personnel filing.

About you

• 3+ years of dual experience in Australian payroll processing and HR administration.
• Prior experience working within construction, mining, engineering, or heavy industry is highly regarded. Proficiency in modern payroll ecosystems and intermediate-to-advanced MS Excel skills for data reconciliation.
