Job summary

The Salvation Army Housing seeks an Asset Services Officer to manage maintenance and asset performance across SA and WA, reporting to the State Manager. Based in Ingle Farm, this 12-month full-time contract focuses on coordinating refurbishment, asset upgrades and compliance to deliver safe, sustainable housing for vulnerable communities.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Property, Building, Asset Management, Project Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience managing property, housing or facilities portfolios and coordinating maintenance and asset improvement works.
• Strong contractor, procurement and budget management skills.
• Proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and manage competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property or asset management systems.
• Knowledge of social or community housing and asset lifecycle planning is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance and operational performance of a diverse housing portfolio across SA and WA.
• Coordinate and oversee property maintenance, refurbishment and asset improvement projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget and to required standards.
• Monitor and maintain asset compliance, safety and property standards in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
• Provide expert advice on asset management, maintenance planning, procurement and contract management matters.
• Procure, engage and manage contractors and suppliers, including assessing quotations, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance.
• Track and monitor asset expenditure, contributing to effective budget management and long‑term asset planning.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and external partners to support responsive service delivery.
• Prepare and analyse asset performance reports, providing insights and recommendations to support informed decision‑making and continuous improvement.
