Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is seeking a part-time Cook to join the team at Durungaling Hostel in Newcastle. The role runs weekdays from 11:30am to 6:30pm, focusing on preparing meals, managing kitchen stock, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety in line with Food Safety Standards Australia.

The successful applicant will contribute to resident dining experiences, uphold WHS practices, and support the hostel team with general duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in meal preparation in an industry-based environment.
• Experience in commercial cookery and stock rotation.
• Understanding of cleanliness and health standards in food prep.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high level of customer service to residents.
• Uphold safety for staff and residents and follow WHS practices.
• Assist hostel team with general duties.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality meal services aligned with menus and standards.
• Manage kitchen inventory and maintain hygienic dining spaces.
