Job summary

Uniting Port Macquarie is seeking a Homemaker to lead a household and supervise a care team to support residents with daily living while maintaining dignity and independence.

Shifts run 7:30am–5:30pm with fixed days; permanent part-time role (60 hours per fortnight). Training and development are provided in a not-for-profit setting focused on community impact.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Aged Care is required.
  • Completion or current enrolment in the Homemaker course is required.
  • Experience as homemaker or team leader is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in aged or community care is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage queries and feedback from residents, families, and staff.
  • Monitor equipment and arrange maintenance as needed.
  • Track supplies and re-order within budget.
  • Assist residents with daily living while promoting dignity and independence.

About Uniting Port Macquarie

Situed in Port Macquarie, Uniting Mingaletta offers a welcoming living environment. Our facility is designed using the household model of care. This fosters a warm, family-like atmosphere where we strive to ensure every resident feels at home. We have single rooms, and our facility is currently undergoing a room refurbishment to ensure our facilities are modernised.

Role Overview

Our Uniting Household Model of Care empowers our residential care teams with the freedom to support residents in ways that help them maintain a sense of meaning and purpose in their day.

Care Worker teams in each of our households are led by a team leadership role that we call a Homemaker at Uniting.

As a Homemaker, you’ll be responsible for supervising the smooth operations of a household. You’ll allocate work to team members based on resident choices and work to promote a cohesive and harmonious work environment.

This is a Permanent Part-Time position, working 60 hours per fortnight.

Roster
  • Week 1: Monday and Tuesday
  • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday

Shifts are 7:30am – 5:30pm. Please note that these days and shift times are fixed and are not negotiable.

Other responsibilities will include
  • Managing queries and feedback from residents and their families, your co-workers and other service providers
  • Monitoring equipment to ensure that it’s in safe working order and arranging maintenance and repairs when needed
  • Tracking supplies and consumables and re-ordering as needed in line with budgets
  • Assisting residents with daily living activities and personal care, always making their dignity and independence a top priority and
  • Working for the continuous improvement of our service to ensure it’s the best it can be, in line with Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • You’ll have a Certificate IV in Aged Care minimum.
  • Completion or currently enrolled for the Homemaker course.
  • Previous homemaker or team leader experience will be highly regarded.
  • Previous supervisory experience in aged or community care is highly desirable.
  • Be adaptable and resourceful and be able to live our values of compassion, respect, imagination, and boldness every day.
  • Experience using client/data management systems.
