Job summary

Silverchain is seeking a Care Worker to support ageing clients in Parramatta and surrounding areas. You will provide home help and personal care, including housekeeping, meals and medication assistance.

Applicants should have 3+ months in a similar role, a valid Australian driver’s licence and own insured vehicle. CP R and First Aid training are paid, with guaranteed shifts and competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• 3+ months experience in a similar professional role
• Experience in personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications

Responsibilities

• Provide home care services including housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and shopping
• Deliver personal care such as help with bed, showering, dressing, medication reminders
• Support mobility and therapy goals and provide transport to activities or appointments
• Offer social and emotional support and assist families to take breaks when needed

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
