Job summary

Silver Chain Group in Camden, NSW is hiring a Care Worker to support ageing clients at home. The role covers personal care, domestic tasks and companionship, with guaranteed hours and a competitive award rate.

Applicants should have at least 3 months in a similar care role, a valid Australian driver’s licence and access to an insured vehicle. CPR/First Aid training is provided as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar care role.
• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to insured vehicle.
• Experience with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping, bed making, cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors.
• Laundry: washing, folding and ironing.
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Personal care: getting clients out of bed, shower, dress, and assisting with medications.
• Mobility support and helping clients with therapy goals; provide social and emotional support.
• Transport clients to lifestyle activities or appointments; assist family carers.

It takes a special person to be a Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their independence and wellbeing. We are looking for a person with at least 3 months experience in a similar professionalrole, to join the Silverchain team in Camden and surrounding suburbs.

What we’re looking for

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
