Job summary

Silver Chain Group seeks a caring Care Worker to support older adults in Bellara and surrounding areas. You will deliver home help tasks and personal care to maintain independence and wellbeing.

Applicants should have at least 3 months in a similar role, with a valid Australian driver’s licence and own vehicle. The role includes guaranteed hours, award-rate pay, and opportunities for further qualifications and training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar professional role.
• Experience in personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications preferred.
• Must have a valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services: housekeeping, bed making, cleaning, laundry, meal planning and shopping.
• Provide personal care: assist with getting in/out of bed, showering/dressing, medication reminders, mobility support.
• Support client transport to activities or appointments and give emotional support to clients and families.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
