Job summary

Silverchain in Sydney area is seeking a dedicated Care Worker to support aged care clients at home in Kogarah and surrounding areas. You will perform housekeeping, meal prep, laundry and general cleaning, alongside assisting clients with daily living activities, mobility, showering and medication support.

Applicants should have at least 3 months of similar experience, a valid Australian driver’s licence, and access to their own insured vehicle.

Qualifications

• 3+ months experience in a similar professional role.
• Valid Australian driver’s licence and own insured vehicle.
• Experience with personal care, manual handling, medications and hoist training.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services: housekeeping, beds, cleaning, laundry, meal prep.
• Deliver personal care: mobility assistance, bathing, dressing, medication support.
• Provide transport to activities/appointments and social support to clients.
• Support families, offer empathetic, respectful care and report changes to managers.

What we're looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goalsProviding complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
