Job summary

Silverchain Group is seeking a Care Worker to support aged care clients in Melton and surrounding areas. You will perform general housekeeping, meal prep, laundry and transport clients to activities. You will also provide personal care and assist with medications and mobility to maintain independence.

Valid Australian Driver's Licence and a vehicle are required; 3+ months in a similar role with care experience is preferred. Eligible applicants will be supported with training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar professional role, with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services including housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, meal planning and grocery shopping.
• Provide personal care such as getting clients out of bed, showering and dressing, assisting with medications and mobility goals.
• Support clients to participate in lifestyle activities and transport to appointments; assist family carers as needed.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence andyour own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
