Job summary

Silverchain is seeking a Home Care Worker in Bathurst to support older community members at home. You will perform homemaking tasks, meal preparation, and social support, with a focus on independent living and family carer relief.

Applicants should have a valid Australian driver’s licence, own vehicle, and interest in aged care. Paid CPR/First Aid courses and benefits are included, with salary packaging opportunities.

Qualifications

• No formal degree required; experience in community care is preferred.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with clients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services: housekeeping, bed-making, cleaning, laundry and meal prep.
• Offer social support and transport to activities.
• Support family carers and coordinate with client’s needs.

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for just that person to join the Silverchain team in Bathurst and surrounding areas.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (3 - 6 months previous experience in a similar role).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
