Job summary

Silverchain in Springwood, NSW is seeking a Care Worker to support older clients at home, helping with daily tasks and personal care to promote independence and wellbeing. You will enjoy variety, build positive relationships with clients and families, and stay calm under pressure.

Qualifications

• Enjoy helping older adults and maintaining independence.
• Able to form positive relationships with clients and families.
• Capable of managing challenging days calmly and professionally.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with manager support as needed.
• Must have a valid Australian driver's licence and insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help such as housekeeping, laundry, meals, and shopping.
• Deliver personal care including getting clients out of bed, dressing, and mobility support.
• Assist with medications and transport to activities as needed.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
