Job summary

Australian Unity is hiring in Cairns to deliver in-home care for older Australians. You will provide personal care, mobility support and domestic tasks in clients' homes, helping them remain independent and safe.

The role requires a current Australian Driver's Licence, a comprehensively insured car, and 12 months of relevant care experience or a qualification in Aged Care, Disability or Home and Community Care. Training is provided, with several shifts across 3–4 weekdays.

Qualifications

• Live in Cairns or surrounding areas to support customers locally.
• Hold an Australian Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured car.
• Minimum 12 months of personal care experience or qualification in aged care, disability or home and community care.
• Available to work at least 6 hours per day between 8am–6pm, across 3–4 weekdays (some weekend rosters).
• Complete the paid 2-week Brilliant @ Basics Training at start.
• Passionate about in-home aged care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to older Australians in their homes.
• Provide personal care: showering, grooming, toileting and mobility support.
• Assist with medications where applicable.
• Provide domestic support: cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.
• Offer social support and companionship.
• Promote independence, dignity and wellbeing.

About You

• Live in and can support our customers in Cairns and surrounding areas
• Hold an Australian Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured car (no international licence/shared vehicles)
• Minimum 12 months of experience delivering personal care in aged care, disability, or hospital environments and/or completed a qualification in Aged Care, Disability or Home and Community Care
• Available to work a minimum of 6 hours per day within the hours of 8am – 6pm, ideally across 3–4 weekdays (some weekend rosters available)
• Commitment to our paid 2-week Brilliant @ Basics Training when you start
• Passionate about working in in-home care, with a focus on aged care

What We Offer

• $36.42 - $36.59 p/h + super
• Paid travel time + $1.33/km allowance + company phone
• Permanent part-time contracts: 30 – 50 hours per fortnight
• Stable hours with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts

Your Role
