Job summary

Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT is seeking a Home Care Assistant to provide individualized in-home support for older people in and around Moama. This permanent part-time role offers 20 hours per fortnight with shifts from 08:00 to 16:00, and days flexible to meet client needs.

Requirements include Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent, compassionate interpersonal skills, a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Aged or Individual Support or equivalent is essential.
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and empathy for older people.
• Current driver's license and a car with full comprehensive insurance.
• Willingness to travel using own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide meal assistance, transport and accompaniment, social support and activities.
• Assist with personal care, showering and bathing.
• Domestic assistance and light housekeeping.
• Medication assistance as required.

The Role

Our Home Care services empower older people to live at home independently and safely. You will provide individualised care tailored to the needs of each client and their families.

We have apermanent part-time role offering 20 hours a fortnight and will cover a variety of shifts, so you must be available and flexible within the hours of08.00 - 16.00 ideally. We require a minimum of 3 days availability; days and hours are negotiable based on our clients' requirements in and aroundMoama and surrounding areas.

Your role will include:

• Meal assistance, including shopping, meal preparation and help with eating
• Transport and accompaniment, including shopping trips and appointments
• Social support & activities, including outings and social activities.
• Personal care, showering, and bathing, general self-care duties
• Domestic assistance, light household cleaning.
• Medication assistance

Requirements

• Certificate III in Aged or Individual Support, or AIN qualifications -essential
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and an empathy with older people
• Current driver's license and car with full comprehensive insurance
• Willingness to travel on a regular basis using your own vehicle.
• Reliable and trustworthy – our clients are dependent on you.
• Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
• Proven Aged Care or NDIS services background
• Excellent customer service skills and enjoy working independently and remotely in customers’ homes and in the local community.
