Job summary

The Benevolent Society is seeking a Families Together Child & Family Practitioner to deliver home-based support to families facing complex challenges. Based in Hurtsville, this full-time 12-month contract role offers trauma-informed, strength-based practice and opportunities to collaborate with local services.

You will conduct home visits, assess family needs, develop plans, and coordinate practical supports while building trusting relationships.

Qualifications

Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related human services field.
Experience delivering intensive casework with vulnerable children and families, ideally within family preservation, child protection or community-based support programs.
Sound understanding of trauma-informed practice, child safety and risk assessment, with the ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.
Strong communication and engagement skills, including culturally safe practice and effective collaboration with families and service partners.
Practical requirements, including confidence with case documentation and systems, a current NSW Driver’s Licence and NSW Working With Children Check.

Responsibilities

Provide home based intervention, including regular family visits and direct engagement.
Assess family strengths, needs and risks, and develop clear family-led support plans.
Deliver practical and evidence-informed interventions, including parenting support, advocacy and service coordination.
Maintain accurate documentation and work collaboratively with families, colleagues and partner services.
