Job summary

Transgrid in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a Project Design Manager to lead design activities for high‑voltage substations and transmission projects. You will develop best-practice design policies, provide specialist guidance, and deliver complete projects for timely handover to delivery teams.

You will manage a team of project engineers, coordinate with design specialists, and ensure alignment with safety, quality and regulatory standards while maintaining delivery pace and commercial acumen.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams on high‑voltage projects.
• Coordinate design across substations, transmission lines and customer connections.
• Manage design reviews, tender evaluations and compliance checks.
• Interface with customers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate engineering risks with stakeholders.
• Oversee design through all project phases from concept to commissioning.
