Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrician for a permanent 7/7 Day/Night Shift roster in Middlemount, QLD, to maintain CAT mining equipment including high voltage systems.

You will perform electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs, while upholding safety, quality, and reliability standards for one of Queensland’s leading mining operations. This role offers DIO roaster work and opportunities for growth within a global Caterpillar service network.

Qualifications

• Electrical Trade Qualification with heavy industry/mining experience.
• Experience on high voltage electrical systems in mining or heavy equipment.
• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtain.
• Experience using Caterpillar diagnostic systems such as ET, VIMS, SIMSi and SIS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain critical fleet assets – electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and warranty work on CAT mining equipment with high voltage systems.
• Deliver safe, quality outcomes, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot effectively using CAT diagnostic systems to resolve faults.
• Keep customers informed with clear progress updates and equipment status.
• Support equipment reliability by assessing component reusability and lifecycle.
• Submit accurate service reports, timecards, parts requests and quotations in a timely manner.

We’re looking for experienced High Voltage Electricians to join our team at Middlemount to support the maintenance, repair and performance of cutting-edge CAT 794 Electric Truck technology. This is a Permanent 7/7 Day/Night Shift roster Drive In/Drive Out role servicing one of Queensland’s leading mining operations.

What you’ll be doing

As a High Voltage Electrician at Hastings Deering, you will:

• Maintain critical fleet assets – perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and warranty work on CAT mining equipment, including high voltage systems.
• Deliver safe, quality outcomes – ensure all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards, minimising rework and maximising equipment availability.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot effectively – utilise Caterpillar diagnostic systems and technical resources to identify and resolve complex electrical faults.
• Keep customers informed – provide clear communication on job progress, repair requirements and equipment status to onsite stakeholders.
• Support equipment reliability – assess components for reusability and make recommendations to optimise equipment performance and lifecycle.
• Complete accurate documentation – submit detailed service reports, timecards, parts requests and quotations in a timely manner.

What you’ll need

A successful teammate will have experience in:

• Electrical trade qualifications – current Electrical Trade Qualification with experience in heavy industry, mining or mobile equipment maintenance.
• High voltage capability – demonstrated experience working on high voltage electrical systems, preferably within mining or heavy machinery environments.
• Mining industry readiness – current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or the ability to obtain them through Hastings Deering.
• Technical expertise – experience using Caterpillar diagnostic systems such as ET, VIMS, SIMSi and SIS will be highly regarded.
• Customer-focused communication – strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships onsite.
• Safety-first approach – a demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
