Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking experienced Mechanical Supervisors for McArthur River Mine. You will lead the Mechanical Workshop team, oversee safety, drive operational excellence, and manage major mechanical works. The role emphasizes Caterpillar systems knowledge and continuous improvement within a mining environment.

The position offers a permanent, full-time role on a 2 on / 2 off rotating roster, with on-site camp facilities and comprehensive health and safety commitments.

• Lead and develop your team – provide active management, leadership, coaching, and guidance to workshop employees and contractors while ensuring company policies and procedures are upheld.
• Drive safety and compliance – maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring governance and compliance across all mechanical activities and installations.
• Deliver operational excellence – ensure KPIs, targets, timeframes, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Manage major projects – maintain single point accountability for all major mechanical works, ensuring continuity, progress, and clear communication.
• Improve performance and quality – work closely with the team to enhance efficiency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement outcomes.
• Develop workforce capability – create and manage a Mechanical Skills Training Matrix to build team capability and performance.

What you’ll need

• Trade qualifications that matter – relevant Mechanical trade qualification.
• Leadership experience – 3-5 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role within mining or heavy earthmoving industries.
• Technical expertise – strong knowledge of Caterpillar systems, parts, and service processes.
• Safety-first mindset – demonstrated commitment to maintaining high workplace health and safety standards.
• Strong communication skills – ability to effectively communicate, document, and manage time across multiple priorities.
