Job summary

Department of Education Victoria in South Yarra, VIC, is recruiting a Classroom Teacher for Mathematics Masterclasses targeting high-ability Year 7–8 students. The role involves developing curriculum, delivering ~17 masterclass days annually, and collaborating with CHES leadership to extend learning to VCE subjects from 2028.

Teaching will occur at CHES and regional Victoria sites with outreach days. Induction and ongoing professional learning are provided, with potential transition to VHAP

Qualifications

• Ability to teach high-ability maths topics and adapt to VHAP/VCE contexts.
• Willingness to teach one or more of VCE Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Investigations, and VCE Algorithmics.

Responsibilities

• Develop challenging maths masterclass curriculum extending VHAP.
• Plan and deliver full-day masterclasses at CHES and regional venues.
• Apply advanced maths teaching approaches for high-ability students to promote reasoning and collaboration.
• Collaborate with CHES and Department of Education to create reusable resources for schools.
• Contribute to professional learning for High Ability Practice Leaders and lead masterclasses from 2028.
• Use student data to refine the program and prep CHES VHAP delivery from 2028.
• Support planning and delivery of CHES programs including VCE and enrichment electives.
