Job summary

Inner West Council in Sydney's Inner West region is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join the Mechanical Services team in St Peters. This hands‑on role focuses on diagnosing and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and plant equipment to ensure safety and reliability.

The position offers an hourly rate of AUD 54.43 plus super, with Monday to Friday shifts (6:30am–2:00pm) and a temporary assignment ending 30 June 2027.

Qualifications

• Recognised automotive mechanical trade qualification.
• Current NSW Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate in relevant class (if applicable).
• Current NSW HR driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Work within a fleet workshop to keep vehicles safe, reliable and operational.
• Utilise diagnostic skills to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.

Working within Council's fleet workshop, you'll play an important role in keeping its diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and plant equipment safe, reliable and operational. This is a hands‑on opportunity for a qualified Mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair skills.

• $54.43 per hour + super

Key Requirements

• Recognised automotive mechanical trade qualification.
• Current NSW Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate in the relevant class of repair work.
• Current NSW HR driver's licence.
• Demonstrated post-trade experience inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
