Job summary

Complete Staff Solutions is hiring a Heavy Vehicle/Plant Mechanic for a local council role at the Wilberforce Depot. The position is hands-on, focused on keeping trucks, heavy vehicles and plant equipment in top condition within a safety-focused team.

The role requires trade qualification in Heavy Diesel/Plant Mechanics, 5+ years of experience, and HR licence. On-call duties and after-hours response are part of the roster.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Plant Mechanics.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and ECMs.
• HR Driver's Licence.
• White Card.

Responsibilities

• Complete minor and major services on Council vehicles and plant.
• Diagnose and repair faults on Council plant and equipment as required.
• Carry our maintenance on Council equipment, including but not limited to chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers, passenger vehicles, trucks and earth moving equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission faults.
• Carry out oxy and mig welding repairs.
• Keep accurate maintenance and service records.
• Maintain workshop safety and assist with parts inventory.
• Ensure all work complies with WHS and environmental standards.

Heavy Vehicle / Plant Mechanic | Local Council

We are currently seeking experienced Vehicle Mechanics: Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanics to play a key role in keeping the fleet of trucks, heavy vehicles, and equipment in top condition. Based at the Wilberforce Depot, this hands-on role is ideal for experienced mechanics looking to work in a supportive, safety-focused team.

Spread of hours covers 5:30am to 6:30pm

Requirement to participate in on-call roster system

Available for after hours response

Applicant must provide own tools

Key Responsibilities

• Complete minor and major services on Council vehicles and plant
• Diagnose and repair faults on Council plant and equipment as required

What You’ll Need

Australian citizenship or permanent residency required

• Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector certification

• Confined Space Ticket
• Permit to operate Backhoe, Loader, Forklift, Mobile HIAB
