Job summary

Orica is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter to apply heavy vehicle and mechanical expertise across a diverse mobile fleet and plant operation in Central Queensland. You will perform scheduled servicing, repairs, breakdown maintenance and provide technical support for Mobile Manufacturing Units and fixed plant, on a 7/7 roster with FIFO/DIDO options and camp accommodation.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical (Heavy Road Transport) or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant trade experience in heavy transport or mobile equipment.
• Strong practical experience across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• The ability to obtain the required Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• To perform scheduled servicing, repairs, alterations and breakdown maintenance;
• You will maintain Mobile Manufacturing Units and fixed plant in accordance with SAP Plant Maintenance requirements;
• Diagnose and support mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems;
• Complete product pump rebuilds and equipment maintenance;
• Assess operational and maintenance risks and take appropriate corrective action;
• To provide onsite and phone-based technical support;
• You will mentor team members and local service contractors supporting operations;
• Identify common equipment failures and contribute to continuous improvement actions.

About the role

Put your heavy vehicle and mechanical expertise to work across a diverse mobile fleet and plant operation. As aHeavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter, you will provide maintenance and reliability support across mobile fleet equipment, Mobile Manufacturing Units and fixed plant, including scheduled servicing, repairs, breakdown maintenance and technical support.

Based in Central Queensland on a 7/7 roster, the role offers FIFO and DIDO options, with camp accommodation provided while on roster.
