Parkes Shire Council is seeking a hands-on Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to repair, service and maintain Council’s fleet, heavy plant and equipment. The role involves workshop and field work to keep vehicles safe, reliable and compliant with manufacturer specs and safety rules.

Ideal candidates include those who have completed a Heavy Vehicle Trade or are in their 3rd/4th year as an apprentice, with HC licence and willingness to develop diagnostic skills.

Formación

• Qualification in Automotive Heavy Vehicle Trade or be a third/fourth-year apprentice.
• Experience or developing skills in servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Current NSW HC driver licence and ability to operate diagnostic tools.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance of Council’s heavy vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Undertake field servicing and repairs as required.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and auto electrical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Complete inspections, electronic test inspection points and maintenance records.
• Ensure work complies with legislation, manufacturer specifications, safety requirements and Council procedures.
• Assist with work orders, purchase orders and maintenance planning to minimise fleet downtime.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient and collaborative workshop environment.
